BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE LAB
Welcome to the Behavioral Neuroscience Lab at Boğaziçi University!
We are a systems neuroscience laboratory investigating the neuronal mechanisms underlying fear memory, depression, and anxiety, as well as the interaction between reward and stress circuits. We use a diverse set of anatomical, electrophysiological, pharmacological, computational, opto/chemogenetic, and behavioral approaches in rodent models. Our primary focus is on dissecting specific neural circuits and functional roles of the ventral pallidum and its projections to the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST), amygdala, habenula, and ventral tegmental area within these cognitive-affective processes.
Please visit our Research page if you are interested in learning more about our work. Our diverse research group includes graduate students and research fellows from various academic backgrounds. If you are considering graduate studies at Boğaziçi University, you can find more information on the Applicants page.
Our research is supported by grants and fellowships from the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), the Science Academy (Bilim Akademisi), the COST Association, the Council of Higher Education Research Universities Support Program (YÖK-ADEP), and the Scientific Research Projects Unit of Boğaziçi University.
