Ventral pallidum regulates responses to aversive stimuli

Tuesday, April 11, 2023
Our EMBO-funded work on ventral pallidum is published in Progress in neuro-psychopharmacology & biological psychiatry !
We show that GABAergic and cholinergic neuronal groups of the ventral pallidum, a core component of the reward circuit, regulate behavioral responses to aversive stimuli by suppressing active coping. This suggests that ventral pallidum neuronal populations may constitute therapeutic targets for the treatment of mood disorders. Check it out yourself.
